Version History Ready for chain season. • Trip mode: plan a mountain drive and see every chain-control checkpoint on the way, with live Caltrans status in each direction and what drivers at the checkpoint are reporting. Tap "Plan a mountain drive", or switch your home screen in Settings ▸ Home screen. • Mountain briefing: choose when you're leaving and see the whole drive on one timeline — the climb, the forecast for when you reach each stretch, snow and possible ice, chain controls and closures. Each item shows where it came from and how old it is. • Where there's a real choice over the mountains, like I-80 or US-50, compare the two side by side. • Drive mode shows only the next thing that changes and announces checkpoints as you get close. • Checkpoint hub: Caltrans status, driver reports, cameras, weather and signs for a checkpoint on one screen. Add your own report from the road. • Siri: "Are chains required in CHPMap", "Chain controls on 80 in CHPMap", "Incidents near me in CHPMap". • Get updates on an incident: tap the bell and we'll notify you when it's updated or CHP takes it off the list. Already using CHPMap? Your map opens just as it did before. 9.2 2d ago See every incident at a glance. • Incidents are no longer grouped into numbered bubbles by default — every pin shows at any zoom, and no pin is hidden just because it overlaps a neighbour. Prefer the bubbles? Settings ▸ Group Nearby Incidents turns them back on. • Includes the 9.1.1 fixes: cached incidents stay on the map at launch, and swiping the incident sheet away no longer triggers extra downloads. 9.1.2 Sep 26 Incident pins stay put. • Fixed: incidents already on your phone could vanish from the map at launch until a fresh download finished — on a weak connection they never came back without clearing the cache. Cached incidents now stay on the map and the download updates them in place. • Fixed: swiping the incident sheet away was quietly triggering a full download each time. Refresh now happens only on your schedule or when you pull to refresh. • If a pin ever does go missing, the map now puts it back on the next refresh and notes it in the diagnostics report, so Report a Software Problem tells us exactly what happened. 9.1.1 Sep 26 Follow an incident, and watch your cameras from the Home Screen. • New: follow any incident and get an alert when CHP updates it — and one more when they clear it. Tapping an alert opens the incident it is about. • New: a Home Screen widget showing up to four of your saved traffic cameras, so you can check the road without opening the app. • The incidents list now separates what is active from what CHP no longer lists, with cleared incidents ordered by CHP's most recent activity. • Simpler premium: one CHPMap Pro subscription now unlocks every premium layer — traffic cameras, weather alerts, CMS signs, CHP radio areas, rest areas and EV chargers — instead of subscribing to each one separately. Existing subscriptions keep working exactly as before. • Fixes for cleared incidents appearing on the map, pins hidden inside clusters, and settings that did not survive a relaunch. 9.1 Sep 7 Privacy-friendly usage insights. • New: an optional "Share Anonymous Usage Data" setting, on by default, that tells us which map layers and features actually get used so we can improve the ones you rely on. • It records no location, nothing you view or write, and no personal information — just a random code, which feature was used, and how long a layer was on screen. Full details are in our privacy policy, linked from Settings. • You can turn it off at any time in Settings, and nothing further leaves your device. • Stability and reliability improvements. 9.0 Sep 4 Stability fixes. • Fixed duplicate incidents: when the app returned to the foreground, the same incident could appear two or three times in the incident list. Refreshes are now handled one at a time, so every incident shows once. • Fixed crashes and slowdowns caused by those duplicates. • Your favorited incidents are no longer cleared when the incident list refreshes. • Thanks to the users who reported this with diagnostics — it made the cause easy to find. 8.9 Sep 2 Fixes and improvements. • Fixed incident grouping in "All Incidents": Central Valley areas (Fresno, Merced, Stockton, Bakersfield, and more) now appear under their own dispatch center instead of being lumped under "Los Angeles." • Cleaner, more accurate section names throughout the incident list. • Thanks to the users who reported this — keep the feedback coming. 8.8 Aug 18 Faster, smoother, and more flexible. • Instant startup: the map now opens right away while live CHP incidents load in the background — no more waiting on a loading screen. • New monthly plan: premium layers (traffic cameras, weather, EV chargers, rest areas, CHP radio areas, message signs) are now available as a low-cost monthly subscription in addition to yearly — start with a 7-day free trial. • Reliability and polish improvements throughout. 8.7 Aug 14 A fresh new look for CHPMap. • Redesigned map pins: CHP incidents, traffic cameras, message signs, rest areas, and EV chargers now use clean, color-coded markers that are easy to tell apart at a glance. • Refreshed detail cards with one-tap Directions to any camera, rest area, or charger. • A new welcome screen and a more polished launch experience. • Visual refinements throughout for a clearer, more consistent map. • More reliable, always-fresh incident coverage. 8.6 Aug 10 NEW: CMS Signs layer • See Caltrans changeable message signs — the overhead electronic highway signs — live on the map, statewide. • Tap any sign to read its message exactly as it appears on the road: travel times, crash warnings, and closures. • 7-day free trial.
